Floor plan

The floor plan tool turns a rough sketch into a plan. You place the rooms roughly over the plot and draw the circulation as lines; the tool fits a legal plan as you go - no overlaps, everything inside the plot, a door for every way in - and a critic tells you, sentence by sentence, what it finds.

It runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install, no account to make, and nothing is uploaded.

How it works

The page shows two drawings side by side:

Sketch
What you draw. The rooms start inside the plot, and you can drag them, overlap them, and draw circulation lines, entrances, exits, windows and fixtures.
Fitted plan
What the tool makes of your sketch, recomputed after every change: rooms that no longer overlap, held inside the plot and to its facade, with walls, doors and windows, and the circulation as you drew it.

Under them, the critic lists what it finds - errors, warnings, notes and what it kept. Hover a sentence to see what it is about on both drawings.

A first plan in five minutes

  1. Pick a brief and plot from the list at the top. Each one comes with its rooms already placed inside the plot.
  2. Drag the rooms roughly where you want them. Overlaps are fine; the fit sorts them out.
  3. Place the entrance with the Entrance tool (E) on the outline. The circulation starts there.
  4. Draw the circulation with the Circulation tool (L): click from room to room. A short line from inside one room into another is read as a door.
  5. Read the critic and adjust. Every move refits the plan in a moment.
